A fantastic night of traditional Scottish music with fiddler Eilidh Firth (from Scottish folk band Barluath) and her trio.

Eilidh grew up in Dundee and began playing the violin at the age of six. In 2013, she graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a Bachelors of Arts in Scottish Music.

Before her studies at the Conservatoire, Eilidh performed as a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, the Edinburgh Youth Orchestra and the Tayside Young Fiddlers. Eilidh’s love of traditional music came to the fore when attending Alasdair Fraser’s fiddle course on the Isle of Skye in 2005. Eilidh has since received scholarships to attend Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddle School in California, USA.

Eilidh has been a member of the five-piece Scottish folk band ‘Barluath’ since 2011 and has performed at festivals and concerts in Germany, France, Denmark and the USA. She features on two Barluath albums, ‘Source’ (2012) and ‘At Dawn of Day’ (2015).

2016 saw the release of Eilidh’s first solo EP ‘Searchlight’ that features Alistair Iain Paterson on piano and Alice Allen on cello. This four track EP showcases some of Eilidh’s own compositions and tunes from the Scottish and American traditions.

Eilidh is an enthusiastic teacher and is involved with Dumfries and Galloway Council, the Royal Conservatoire Musicworks project as well as private teaching in Glasgow.
